The winter solstice, our shortest day and longest night of the year, arrived Monday

December 21, 2020 is the winter solstice. On this day, Jupiter and Saturn, the largest planets in the solar system, coming closer and both planets appeared like double planets. It happens every twenty years, but overlap at a significant frequently of 397 years. The phenomenon seen from around the world. It happened between 5pm and 6pm after sunset in Ulaanbaatar time. Jupiter is 300 times larger and 318 times heavier than Earth.

The last time this was happened in March 4, 1226, which was 794 years ago. Mongolian history records that during that time, Chinggis Khaan conquered the Khorezm and came back to Mongolia, after one year Mongol army invaded the Tang Dynasty. After 16-year conquests of Genghis Khan resulted in the formation of the Mongol Empire.

Mongolians used to worship Tengrism (also known as Tengriism, or Tengrianism) is an ancient religion originatingin Central Asia and the Eurasian steppes, based on animism and shamanism and generally centered around the titular sky god Tengri. Chinggis Khaan is considered one of the embodiments. So, Mongolians believed that when the two planets come closer, the sky-(the god) blessed Mongolia.
