As of March 16, 2021, the number of new coronavirus infections reached 4,210 with 3083 recoveries, 4 deaths, active cases 1172 nationwide. The government of Mongolia, all emergency agencies, and health organizations are still working hard and operating 24 hours to prevent the COVID 19 since January 2020. Currently, 50% of the population has undergone coronavirus PCR testing.
Due to the increasing number of coronavirus infections in Ulaanbaatar, starting from March 15, the capital city has been moved to the third disaster level or Orange level. As a result, State Emergency Commission made a decision for the following 14 sectors to be closed until March 28.

Local traffic also restricted. However, citizens will be allowed to return to their permanent residence according to their documents. For example, locals who stuck in Ulaanbaatar and locals stuck in the countryside can return to their permanent addresses. The opening hours of the shops will be 07: 00-22: 00, and the traffic will be restricted from 23: 00-06: 00.
Over the last weekend, between March 13 and 14, a total of 28,249 people has received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccines available in Mongolia, including AstraZeneca and Sputnik-V, reports O. Dashpagma, Director of the Vaccination Department of the National Center for Communicable Diseases. This figure takes the total number of people to be partially vaccinated against the coronavirus to over 112,000.
On March 15, 2021, Monday, more than 560 healthcare workers are working at 40 locations around Ulaanbaatar to vaccinate another 15,374 people against COVID-19. The people to be partially vaccinated this week include employees of essential organizations and businesses and elders aged 60-65.
In order to accelerate the vaccination program in the country, which was launched on February 23, around 10,000-15,000 people are being vaccinated in a day.
