On June 16, the Ministry of Health reported that 2,395 new cases were detected in Mongolia after testing 13,673 people nationwide within the past 24 hours.
More specifically, 1,750 new cases were detected in the capital city and 644 cases in rural regions, with one healthcare worker testing positive. 561 children up to the age of 17 tested positive in the last 24 hours.
As of today, the total number of COVID-19 confirmed cases in Mongolia now stands at 83,128. In the past 24 hours, 827 patients made recovery, bringing the total recoveries to 58,647. Furthermore, nine new COVID-19 related deaths have been reported, raising the country's death toll to 389. Of the 9,643 patients currently undergoing treatment, there are 5,966 patients in mild, 2,640 in serious, 858 in critical, and 179 in very critical condition.
Thus, the Cabinet has resolved to organize the National Naadam Festival in an online format in Ulaanbaatar city.
As a precautionary measure against the pandemic, the Prime Minister has also issued orders to cancel the festival celebrations in the rest of the country. The costs saved from the budget allocated for celebrating the National Naadam Festival is planned to be utilized in taking further countermeasures against the pandemic.
With this decision, Mongolia will be celebrating the National Naadam Festival through TV broadcasts and online for the second consecutive year.
